Watch Uniform Changes
After nearly a century the
city watch will be getting new uniforms. The new design was voted on
by the city council last month and tailors around the city have been
working around the clock since then to produce enough to meet
demand. With over 4,000 city watch officers the council ordered
10,000 new uniforms which are to be stockpiled in case of emergency.

Local government officials are
contemplating raising taxes city-wide. Geyser could be the first
city in the Free Kingdoms to institute a sales tax, essentially
raising prices for all goods by around 5%. No city councilmen could
be reached for comment. Business leaders have been very vocal in
their displeasure with the proposal.
The new temple of Philgore is
nearly complete. It is unclear what will be done with the existing
temple. Observers in the temple district have been quick to praise
the new temple's design. Rising nearly one hundred feet, the new
structure, dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, seems to stretch
for the sky to touch the very symbol of its god. Look for the
completed structure to grace the front of the
Religion
section next week.
New berry craze sweeping
Geyser's north end. The number of sellers of the new berry in Geyser
have jumped dramatically in the past week. The town guardsmen have
begun rounding up suspected sellers and dropping them off outside
the city's north wall. Keeping the berries from infesting Geyser
seems to be a high priority for the city council.

Murder Rate Climbs
The murder rate in Geyser has again hit a new
high. The murder rate for this past year was 6.9.
That's 6.9 known murders for every 1,000 inhabitants
of Geyser.
Taxation Stifles Business
With talk again turning to higher taxes in
Geyser, many local business owners have stopped
hiring new employees. Some have even started to let
employees go to save their salaries in case the new
tax hikes materialize.
New Scam Targets Businesses
Some well dressed individuals are shaking down
businesses in the wharf district. They arrive posing
as city tax collectors demanding back taxes. "They
were very persuasive", one businessman told
us. As these scammers have only targeted fish mongers
this scam has been dubbed 'Fishing'. | | |
