Xathor's undead army lays siege to the Giant Coast.

News of the Realm

Army of Xathor Reaches Giant Coast

Losses were staggering as the undead army of Xathor laid siege to Giant Coast last week. Guardsmen reported that the defenses were holding together behind three anti-magic amulets for the first two days of the siege. On the third day, enemy spies are suspected of stealing them as the amulets went missing and the spellcasters supporting the undead were able to breach the walls of the main keep. Many fled by boat but the undead turned the catapults on the defenseless ships. Only two ships made it to the safety of the open ocean.

In Other News

Xathor has upped the ante for the head of Kiv the Graven. What was once thought to be only a rumor, posters have been found offering a two million gold piece reward for his head. Treasure hunters have been stocking up in the market district leading some to speculate that the posters themselves might have been forged by the shop owners to increase sales.

A blind man in the Wharf District has been charged with over thirty thefts of local businesses. Business owners are happy the thief has finally been caught, but many are asking why it took the town guard three months to apprehend him. When reached for comment a spokesman for the guard was rather vague in response when asked this direct question.

The Mayor of Paliosh, a small farming community from the south peninsula, has planned a march protesting the amount of irrigation water reaching his settlement. In a statement released yesterday the Mayor is quoted as saying, "We have taken to using expensive magic items to produce the water we need to irrigate our crops. This wouldn't be so bad except that we could not afford to buy the items so the shop in Geyser is making us pay astronomical monthly charges to 'lease' them." The city council in Geyser will be meeting with the group of farmers two weeks from now. Unfortunately for Paliosh, the purveyor who has been charging them these prices is a Geyser city councilman.
