Geyser Marathon Winner Executed
The winner of last weeks'
Geyser Marathon was tried and executed for cheating. A post race
magical inspection of the winner found several nearly empty potions
of Haste and Endurance on his person. Upon further investigation
many other potions were found alongside the race route. Of the 1230
entrants more then 200 have been disqualified, 7 were fined, and 4
were tried and executed. The city council is also looking into
allegations of race fixing by the Thieves Guild.
Temeforge Prodigy Destroys Town
Kelvin Temeforge, son of
our editor Deccion, managed to blindly activate a scroll he found at
the family's summer estate on Sowell Island. The small town of
Feligs, on the southeastern tip of the island, was momentarily
reduced to rubble. Fortunately, the elder Temeforge was able to
reverse the damage done with a well worded Wish. As a word of
caution to our readers, please keep those scrolls and wands locked
up so that children won't find them, and possibly use them, in an
unsafe manner. Remember, scrolls don't destroy towns, children with
scrolls do.
Jer'to Highforge Knighted
In a sunrise ceremony on
the south lawn of the Bewchard estate, Jer'to Highforge was knighted
by Ki-Laren's fourth wife, Miltika. The event was held in the same
pavilion tent used for the Bewchard wedding two weeks ago. Guests
were treated to an elaborate brunch following the ceremony.
Urki the Hobgoblin Destroyed
During a raid into the lair
of the dire kobolds the Hobgoblin Urki, the Kobold Chief Kerina, and
the Dire Kobold Gimp were all killed. Many valuable items were
recovered including an heirloom sword valued at nearly 100,000gp.
Bandit King Eludes Capture
The bandit king, Liandor
Polondor, escaped capture again this past week. A company of royal
guardsmen encircled the bandit camp in the central plains but
somehow Liandor slipped through. It is unclear if someone tipped
off the bandits or if their sentry pickets were very vigilant. The
bounty on Liandor's head has grown to an impressive 20,000gp. He is
the most wanted man south of the Wall of the Dead.
Warmage College Heavily Damaged
The Warmage training grounds
in the Half-Lands was attacked last month by migrating reptiles. The
warmage college just happened to be founded directly in the path of
a large migratory route not used for years. According to priests at
the temple of Xelor, throughout history that particular path has not
been used in 113 years. The surviving cadets have gone about
fortifying the college grounds against a reptilian return. Damage
was estimated to be over 120,000gp.
Stage Actor Caught
Stage actor Ostian Jonesie is
wanted in connection with the murder of his wife and a young food
service worker as they walked together in the low quarter. He was
last seen headed out of town in a carriage drawn by a wild white
stallion.
Updating this story, Ostian was apprehended trying to
sneak back into Geyser yesterday. He has repeatedly maintained his innocence
despite overwhelming evidence that he committed the heinous act.
Wharf District Tops Study
According to a study
released yesterday by the Geyser Visitors Board, the Wharf District
is the most dangerous area in all of Geyser. The low quarter and the
marketplace were second and third, respectively. Many business
owners from the wharf have been petitioning the city to increase
patrols throughout the wharf. The city council has vowed to take up
the matter as soon as the high quarter makes the annual list.
Santorium Void Drives off Sub-Humanoids
Santorium Void
saved from rampaging Orcs and Hobgoblins. Several Orc and Hobgoblin raiding
parties were driven back into the western mountains by a small group
of adventurers. While the Northlands is known to be inhabited by
several dangerous beasts, well organized sub-humanoid tribes still
pose a serious threat to outposts there.
Possible Kiv Sighting North of Geyser
Kiv the Graven
reportedly seen north of Geyser. A horde of treasure seekers,
believing the Xathor ransom rumor true, scoured the countryside.
Small town mayors have asked for reparations from the Geyser city
council for crops that were destroyed. One disgruntled farmer
said, "I will not be sending any crops to Geyser this harvest
because of
the damage their citizens have caused." A mage from the arcane order
arrived shortly thereafter and the farmer was turned to stone. No
further complaints were registered.
Strange Weeds Stump Experts
Strange weeds
threaten crops and livestock in Maize. Several mysterious deaths and
the sighting of a mutant strain of weed are choking out farms and
farmers north of Geyser. A magical explanation for the sudden
appearance of the anomalous vegetation has not been forthcoming from
any of the nearby temples. Priests at the temple of Thornaolf seem
especially troubled by this new menace.
New Class of Fighters Minted
Retired adventurer Johan Kidaring spoke to the
graduating class of the Martial Academy. Fighters, rogues and rangers made up
the bulk of the graduating class. His commencement address ended, "We all enter
this world in the same way: naked; screaming; soaked in blood. But if you live
your life right, that kind of thing doesn't have to stop there."
Regional Jousting Tourney Postponed
Jousting tournament
scheduled for yesterday moved to next week because of rain. Many
participants from out of town are spending large amounts of money to
extend their stay. Local merchants are hoping for rain next week as
well. Good tickets are still available at Moresan Commons in the
high quarter for 2gp. The only top ranked noble not competing this
year is Sir Klyde of Yates. He was commissioned by the Seafarers
Union to lead an expedition to find the lost city of Karuth.
Local Area Thief 'Just Sayin' Archive
Article 1: A Geyser practitioner of
the thieving arts was interviewed after a disturbance in the
marketplace. "I'm just saying she came outta nowhere and ransacked
the whole place." When asked for a description his only response
was; "On a scale of 3 to 18 I'd say she was at least a 15." No other
eyewitnesses were available for comment. The Geyser Guards took the
unnamed rogue into custody as a 'precautionary measure'.

City Library Ransacked
Barbarian Karamon
Hammerfist nearly destroyed the city's famed central library.
According to witnesses, the book "See Spot Run" proved too difficult
for him and he flew into a rage. After decimating the entire
children's section he turned his wrath on the young adult section.
After exhaustion overtook him he attempted to flee, but the city
guard was able to subdue him rather quickly. Priests of Xelor are
already working to repair the damage done.
